The Island of Karpathos … a Well-Kept Secret!
06/3/18
An island you can only dream of; a place for people who know what they’re looking for…
A hidden paradise with wild nature surging in amazing bays, transparent turquoise waters, picturesque villages, landscapes and observations, welcoming people, tasty Greek food that pleases the heart and stomach, music in taverns with a glass of ouzo in hand, pleasing the mind as well …here’s a chance to get to know the secret of Greece – the island of Karpathos!
The island spreads on only 340 square kilometers and is 90 kilometers long.
The terrain is mostly mountainous and has a population of only 6,000 permanent residents. Unlike its more touristic neighboring islands, in Karpathos you will meet the authentic Greece, a small island with very few tourists.
The island is just a 15-minute flight from Israel, hidden in the Aegean Sea, between Rhodes and Crete. A short drive from the small airport, at the southern end of the island, on a road that reveals amazing bays, will bring us to Pigadia, the capital of the island of Karpathos, where you can find hotels, taverns, bars and shops, a lively area that starts buzzing around the evening time
During the stay on the island, you can enjoy sailing along beaches, swim in the sea at the feet of impressive cliffs, visit the village of Olympus and other picturesque villages whose white houses are decorated with colorful handcrafted items and flowering plants, meet smiling women in traditional garb and residents who welcome guests with all their heart, taste the local Greek cuisine – a Greek vegetable salad, tzatziki, souvlaki, dolmades, moussaka, fish and seafood that comes straight from the fishermen’s nets, sip wine or raki and enjoy authentic Greek music and bask in peaceful bliss, far from any noisy crowds.
Here, in Karpathos, the natural resources are still under the control of nature itself, and this whole paradise is spread out before you!
